The aim of the department of animal production is twofold : in the first place getting an insight in the functioning of production animals in their natural environment, more specifically the interactions between genetic, environmental (feeding, diseases,...), social and paragenic factors on the one hand and production (growth, lactation) and reproduction on the other hand ; secondly teaching this knowledge to the students. To achieve this, extensive research on a national as well as international competitive basis is a prerequisite. For the more physiological aspects of ongoing research, CABME works together with the Laboratory for Physiology and Immunology within the department of Animal Production.

ISAAA is a small, responsive, non-bureaucratic international network with centers in developing and industrialized countries. Its centers are based in the Philippines, Kenya and the United States. The Network for Animal Health and Welfare in Organic Agriculture (NAHWOA) has been a collaborative research forum on animal health and welfare in organic livestock production, funded by the EU for the duration of 1999-2001. AGRICOLA (AGRICultural OnLine Access) is a bibliographic database of citations to the agricultural literature created by the National Agricultural Library (NAL) and its cooperators. Production of these records in electronic form began in 1970, but the database covers materials in all formats, including printed works from the 15th century. The records describe publications and resources encompassing all aspects of agriculture and allied disciplines. Although the AGRICOLA database does not contain the materials, thousands of AGRICOLA records are linked to full-text documents online, with new links added daily.

Subscribers can find the latest published research in the animalscience.com database containing over 1 million abstracts from over 2000 publications. animalscience.com also contains new academic research, books and news from the veterinary and animal science sectors.

Antilope is the Belgian union catalogue of periodicals held by the Royal Library and other university, research and special libraries in Belgium. From a local Antwerp catalogue with editions in 1973, 1975 and 1977 Antilope developed in 1981 into a national union catalogue, under the direction of the Conference of University Librarians, which has been adopting the objectives of the Antwerp catalogue together with its name.

IATE (= Inter-Active Terminology for Europe”) is the EU inter-institutional terminology database system. The project was launched in 1999 with the objective to provide a web-based infrastructure for all EU terminology resources, enhancing the availability and standardisation of the information. IATE incorporates all of the existing terminology databases of the EU’s translation services into a single new, highly interactive and accessible interinstitutional database. IATE now contains approximately 1.4 million multilingual entries.

The 3TU.Centre for Ethics and Technology is part of the 3TU-Federation. It is a collaboration of the philosophy sections of the three Dutch Universities of Technology: Eindhoven University of Technology, Delft University of Technology, and University of Twente.
